Red Carpet Facial

It felt as fabulous as it sounds.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Glam Boutique Spa in Woodland Hills.

Glam Boutique Spa is a luxurious, and oh so pretty, spa offering services including facials, tans, lashes and waxing.

When you visit, there is free parking in the back, which, for anyone who is like me and gets anxiety at the thought of looking for parking in LA, is a huge bonus!

Anyway, so when I entered the spa, I was greeted by their friendly staff and there were some major blast-from-the-past tunes playing in the background, making for a nice casual ambiance (nothing loud or overbearing! Just enough to enjoy while you await your appointment).

Their interiors are so pretty, very peaceful colors and just overall darling. It’s certainly a place I would love to return to with my girlfriends for a spot of pampering!

When I entered the room for my Red Carpet Facial treatment, what’s the first thing I noticed? The uber cosy blanket on the bed!!!! Ahhh, 90 minute treatment under a gorgeous blanket? Umm… can I do this every day please?!

Why am I talking about a blanket? Well, to be honest, I don’t ever recall having a blanket to cover myself with during facial treatments in the past. Especially if you’re going to be laying there for 60, 90 minutes, your body cools down, so it’s a nice little added luxury to make the overall experience that bit more enjoyable.

All tucked in and relaxed, my facial started with a cleanse, a scrub and a peel, comprised of pumpkin, apple and cinnamon, giving off a wonderful scent, perfect for the current winter season.

Just a note, I like to make sure I remove my makeup and cleanse my face prior to facials. Although the esthetician will remove your makeup, I especially like to remove my mascara beforehand if I’m already wearing, as I find mascara likes to lurk around and take forever to come off completely.

Then came the Microdermabrasion. I love this non-invasive procedure. The esthetician uses a device over your skin which removes the outermost layer of dry and dead skin cells (sounds glamorous, right?!), revealing much healthier looking skin.

Microdermabrasion is a good treatment especially if you’re looking to remove sun spots, wrinkles and fine lines.

Following this came the Hydrafacial. This was my first experience with this, and let me tell you, if felt goo-ood.

This treatment also removes dead skin cells and extracts impurities, while hydrating your skin at the same time, leaving you with beautiful, plumped, clearer skin. It gave my skin a very soothing and refreshing feel, which made the next stage of Intraceuticals Oxygen even more worthwhile.

This process involves using hyperbaric pressure which infuses a special serum comprised of a modified hyaluronic acid, essential vitamins, botanicals, antioxidants and amino peptides to the skin.

I also should mention that these treatments were applied to my face and neck. We tend to forget about our necks and when I was talking about this with the lovely esthetician, she mentioned how I should also be looking after the tops of my hands by using a good sunscreen on them as well as my neck and face. I never thought about my hands, and she mentioned how much time we spend in our cars (especially in LA) and with our hands on the steering wheels and sun exposure, we must take extra care.

When filling my form when I first arrived at the spa, I had mentioned my concerns about my skin, which helps the esthetician provide the right treatment for you, and I had mentioned I am starting to see fine lines and want to prevent more appearing and so she finished my facial off with a red LED light, which interestingly boosts collagen and works wonders for anti-aging.

Is there an LED light I can just point at my face all day long and walk around with??

Ahh, if only we could wave a magic wand and prevent signs of aging! Until such magic wand is invented, skincare should not be taken lightly. This goes for both men and women.

What we eat is just as important as what we put on our skin, and by taking a little extra care we can prolong the signs of aging and maintain our youthful skin.

My skin, let me tell you, was so PLUMP after this treatment. It was glowing, my cheeks had a rosy glow and as much as I wanted to touch my rejuvenated, soft and clear skin, I had to refrain!

This particular treatment does come at a price, *however*, a lot went in to it, and between the experience and the treatments included, it is well worth the time and money.

Glam Boutique Spa offers a variety of facials, starting at $60, which you can check them out here.

You can also find them on Instagram here.

Thank you again to Glam Boutique Spa for pampering my skin, I can’t wait to return! Especially to try out the organic spray tan!

If you’re in the LA area, I highly recommend checking them out. Treat yourself! Trust me, your skin will thank you for it!
