Hello friends! I hope you had a wonderfully Merry Christmas, and wishing a Happy Hanukkah to all of you celebrating too!
As only a few days remain of 2016, and talk of New Year’s resolutions is all around, may I suggest a resolution, which I strongly believe should be an all-year-round daily habit. Skincare.
When it comes to taking care of our skin, I truly believe in the quote “it’s better to prevent than cure.” With so many alternative methods out there today, whether I will ever try botox for a slight lift or whatever there will be at the time, I don’t know. But all I do know is that I would rather do all I can today to avoid having to take drastic routes later.
There are so many ways to care of your skin, especially face and neck. Drinking plenty of water, removing makeup at night, cleansing, using as much natural products as possibly (both in skincare products and makeup), and so the list goes on.
When I came home a few weeks ago to a surprise package from Rodial (courtesy of Collectively Inc.), my beauty and skincare loving self felt like Christmas had arrived early!
Rodial is a luxury skincare line from the UK, founded in 1999. The founder, Maria Hatzistefanis, wanted to offer world-class anti-aging (umm… hello!) ingredients with ground-breaking innovation.
As well as their celebrity-loved skincare products, Rodial also offers luxury contour make-up products.
Since receiving this package, I have been using each so I can share my experience with you!
What did I receive?
What? Banana Powder? Am I missing something? I don’t venture *too* much makeup-wise, and so I’m still learning about certain products!
Firstly, and this goes for all their products, their packaging is off the hook. So luxurious, clean and high-end.
The compact this banana powder comes in is so luxurious I almost didn’t want to ruin its prestine condition!
For those of you who, like me, are new to banana powder, it is a highlighting powder you apply under your eyes and across the t-zone to set highlighter or concealer and neutralize under eye circles.
As soon as I read “neutralize under eye circles” I was ecstatic. The past several weeks, my mum has been pointing out that my eyes have been very red, and I have blue circles under my eyes. I don’t know what is the cause, could just be general tiredness, I have got a lot of things going on at the moment, as well as wedding planning, which is keeping me up at night, so long story short, I was happy to try this powder.
This powder has a nice matte finish, and is long lasting. My skin is combination, and depending on the time of day or month, it can get oily or dry, but this powder remains in place real nice. It goes on lightly too and has a nice almost silky feel to it.
Now, this isn’t cheap, it comes at $57. Just the compact alone, with the leather finish on top, is testimony to how this is a luxury product. It is of a reasonable size nonetheless, and I don’t wear makeup everyday so at this price, personally, it would go a long way.
I may not wear makeup everyday, but when I do, there’s a 99% chance I definitely have black eyeliner on.
My first thoughts on this pen is it’s creamy consistency. I have tried so many black eyeliner pens and pencils over the years, and so many I find don’t go on as a solid black, which I want it to, and many don’t last that long.
I am in love with this particular pen. First of all, it applies as a solid black, very high pigment, and easy to use. It is long lasting (yay!).
My only con with this, due to it being creamy, is when I have to sharpen it.
This retails at $21, which isn’t bad for me, considering I pay about the same for my usual pencil I get from MAC.
Personally I love this purely because of the shades included. They are right up my alley, my go-to colors in one box.
The neutrals are perfect even on days when I just want to brush a light shadow on my eyelids, and the darker tones are perfect for evening glam. The black is one of my favorite black eyeshadows as it’s matte. I love me a matte black shadow for smokey eyes.
This retails at $40, which again, for high quality shadows, isn’t bad, and with a mirror in the compact and not too big a size, it’s perfect for travel or to pop in my clutch.
Described as a ‘jet black peel’ this mask is probably the most interesting one I have tried so far.
If you follow me on Snapchat or Instagram, you may have seen me trying this for the first time a couple of weeks back. It wasn’t exactly a pretty sight, not going to lie, but I wanted to demonstrate how this works.
Besides, it’s not how the mask looks on, but how it benefits your skin afterwards.
The consistency of the mask is very very thick. I didn’t find it so easy to spread over my face, it hardens faster than I thought, but I managed to put it on over my face. After doing so, I left it on for about 20 minutes, and by this point the mask had dried up completely and became a thin, hardened layer which was easy to peel off.
My goodness, that feeling when I was peeling it off and my skin feeling so cool and refreshed as it was exposed felt so good.
My cheeks were glowing after. I felt like this mask cleaned my (already washed and cleaned) face even more.
It is recommended for use once or twice a week. My t-zone is where I get most oily, so I would probably focus on this area with this mask more regularly.
This mask has been developed to reduce wrinkles, reduce enlarged pores, firm and tone your skin as well as reducing the appearance of age and sun spots.
It is on the pricier side, $83, and it is a product I would definitely continue to use. I would probably use it once a week along with a different mask in between to get more out of it.
Now for my favorite Rodial product from this package!
I’m almost actually finished with this bottle *ugly cry*!
This facial oil is intended for use before applying your day cream. Now, it says facial ‘oil’, and I was a little concerned if it would feel oily and make my skin more oily as my skin doesn’t absorb many oil based products very well, but in all honesty, my skin just absorbs this baby right up, practically asking for seconds.
It smells incredible too. You know when luxury products have a certain smell, and you can almost tell it’s not going to be a cheap product from the smell, well that was me with this.
Even without moisturizer after this, my skin is glowing and feels refreshed. It’s ingredients include:
- PhytoCellTec Alp Rose: Protects against environmental stress.
- Olive: A gentle moisturiser for dry skin.
- Vitamin B5: Reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
- Rosehip Seed Oil: Promotes elasticity and firmness.
This retails at $80. Not quite my price range, *but* it definitely is something I would, sorry, *will* buy.
Do you use Rodial products? This was my first experience and I just can’t believe I never tried them before!
