e.l.f. (Cosmetics) on The Shelf

No, not your usual Elves that appear this time of year (which by the way I didn’t even know was a thing until this year), but e.l.f., standing for eyes, lips, face.

e.l.f Cosmetics is a makeup and skincare brand which came on my radar just a few months back through a couple of my friends talking about it, and thanks to Influenster, I had the chance to try some of their products myself.

So what did I receive?

  • Lip Exfoliator
  • Matte Lip Color
  • Mineral Infused Face Primer
  • Baked Highlighter & Bronzer
  • Nourishing Bubble Mask

First off, for such an affordable brand, I love the packaging. Being fairly new to this brand, I would have thought just based off the clean packaging it would be at a bit of a higher price point. That’s one win for me!

As it’s currently winter, (by LA standards, it is COLD), and thus my skin and lips feel dry and need a little extra TLC. The lip exfoliator was a little gift sent from the lip care fairies.

First off, the minty flavor satisfied my taste buds. Yes, the instructions say to gently remove the scrub once applied, but… well let’s just say I kept licking my lips and it magically disappeared itself! Followed by a lip balm, my lips feel so soft and nourished.

And best part… It cost all of $3!! And comes in a variety of flavors. Check them out for yourself here.

The matte lip color also comes at a steal, $3 say what! I know I know.

Anyway, I loved the color I received, applies easily and evenly. I don’t wear lip colors too often, though I’m starting more so now, but I did like this, though it didn’t stay on as long as I hoped for.

As I’ve been lucky enough to be receiving some amazing makeup and beauty products lately, I’ve been attempting to up my makeup game. If you’ve been following me a while, you may have seen a while back I confessed I haven’t owned foundation or such for years. (Yeah, I know, how can she put on eyes and lips and not care about the rest of her face?! I read your mind right?).

So I e.l.f. Cosmetics threw in this lovely mineral infused face primer which you apply to your face prior to makeup application. I have combination skin, which sometimes is prone to getting oily in areas and dry in others.

This primer applies nice and easily while having an almost silky feel to it. It leaves my skin feeling smooth. I received the clear one, and it also comes in a few other shades for color adjusting or brightening purposes. This product is only $6! I still can’t get over how affordable their prices are.

Several months ago I received a highlighter which I have been using almost on the daily, so after receiving these products a few weeks ago, I finally broke away and tried the e.l.f. Cosmetics baked highlighter and bronzer.

When first applying, I did find it doesn’t come off so easily so I was a bit skeptical, not sure if this is normal for baked products (any makeup artists out there know?), but once I managed to apply it exceeded my initial expectations. I especially liked the highlighter.

For a $4 I didn’t expect too much. After applying, I went out and come home as usual, I didn’t reapply and when I went to wash my face I noticed the highlighter still glistening! I think this has great value and will continue to use. Probably more so for daytime looks.

And last, but certainly not least, the nourishing bubble mask. This along with the lip exfoliator were probably my favorite of the products received.

It’s super easy to use, and great for a quick mask in the morning when you’re in more of a hurry but still want to pamper your skin a little. I love the adorable package and pump on top. After dispersing the product, you apply to slightly damp skin. Note; a little goes a long way with this product! It foams up and spreads with a smaller amount than I expected.

The instructions say to leave for 5-10 minutes until the bubbles begin to dissipate, but I found 5 minutes was enough. It had a slight tingling feeling, but feel good nonetheless!

After massaging and washing off, my skin felt SO moisturized even before I applied my moisturizer. I felt so refreshed and for a 5-10 minute process I was really impressed. This product retails at $14.

Thus far, I have a pretty positive experience with e.l.f. Cosmetics and look forward to trying out more of their products!

Have you tried their products? What’s your favorite?

*I received these products in kind from Influenster in exchange for my honest opinion and the above are my true thoughts.
